- Adults 19+ who are BC residents, in a short-duration eligible program (12 weeks or less, micro-credentials, certificates) at a public post-secondary institution. Not income tested.
- Amount range
- Up to $3,500 per program (one grant at a time, multiple programs allowed).
- How to apply
- Apply directly through your school — most schools have a dedicated form. Bring proof of BC residency and program registration.

- Apply once you are accepted into the program. Funding releases at start of program.
Common pitfalls we see
- Not realizing the grant covers short-duration programs other funding sources skip — micro-credentials, certificates, online courses count.
- Assuming income test applies — there is none.
- Missing eligible programs — a wide range of skilled trades, healthcare, IT, and trades programs qualify; check the official list.
FAQ
- Is StrongerBC income tested?
- No. It is non-need-based. Anyone 19+ in a qualifying short program at a BC public post-secondary institution can apply.
- Can I get StrongerBC plus StudentAid BC?
- Generally yes for separate programs. Confirm with your school's financial aid office on stacking rules for your specific program.
Our take
StrongerBC is one of the most under-utilized BC grants because most students hear about it last. If you are doing a micro-credential or short certificate, this should be your first call.
